Nissan Around View Monitor Technology Explained
What is Nissan Inteliigent Around View Monitoring?
Looking to make a tight parallel park, fit into your crowded garage or make hooking up to your boat trailer a breeze? Nissan’s monitoring systems - from the single camera RearView Monitor to the 360° composite view of the Around View® Monitor - make these and many other everyday tasks quick and easy. The additional capability of the Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection can even provide audio and visual alerts if it detects movement around your vehicle.
Part of the Nissan Intelligent Safety Shield Technologies suite, the Around View Monitor and RearView Monitor systems pair with other available features that focus on the area around the vehicle including Blind Spot Warning and Predictive Forward Collision Warning and can warn you of possible hazards. Intelligent Safety Shield Technologies are our way of looking out for you by monitoring, responding and protecting to help keep you and your passengers safe.
Rear View Monitor
Available on every Nissan model and a standard feature on select vehicles across the line up, Nissan’s single camera system not only gives you a view of what’s directly behind you, it makes backing up an easier task with green, yellow, and red indicator lines to help you gauge how close you are to objects.
Around View Monitor
This four camera system creates a virtual composite 360° bird's-eye view of your vehicle and the area surrounding the vehicle and allows you to select front, rear and curbside split screen views. The Around View Monitor can help you see every side of your Nissan in a whole new way.
Around View Monitor With Moving Object Detection
In addition to all the features of Around View Monitor this version of the feature includes Moving Object Detection which can warn you about moving objects that come into view of the cameras with audio and visual alerts.
How Does the Nissan Around View Monitor Work?
Using 4 wide-angle cameras mounted on the front, each side mirror and the rear, Around View Monitor creates a virtual overhead view of your surroundings.
When you shift into reverse to start backing in, the split-screen display gives you the rear view and the overhead. Colored lines help guide you and help you to gauge the distance between your vehicle and another object. When you shift into drive the display automatically switches to the front view.
Push the camera button on the center console and the display replaces the overhead with a side view. You can do the same thing backing up when you want the rear and side combo.
How Does the Nissan Rearview Monitor Work?
When the transmission shifts to reverse your display monitor will change to a live picture of the area directly behind your vehicle. The color lines display the approximate distance between an object and your rear bumper.
- The RED line designates an object is approximately 1.5 feet away.
- The YELLOW line designates an object is approximately 3 feet away.
- The first GREEN line designates an object is approximately 7 feet away.
- The second GREEN line designates an object is approximately 10 feet away.
